The oyster shells are handpicked by me in and around the Charleston, SC area. The shells are soaked in bleach, scrapped, sanitized, and dried in the sun. Every shell used is like putting together a puzzle. Each oyster shell is specifically placed and glued to fit, flow, and compliment the subjects composition. All have a hand cut wood backing. The oyster shells are glued down with a water proof adhesive that is able to withstand most outside elements. However, the wood backing is not sealed and is not water proof. If hung outdoors the weather may effect the subjects longevity. Your unique art piece will come with a sawtooth hook installed on the back that is ready to hang. Or if you choose to display on a stand it will easily stay in place.
