At least until after Madison goes to bed and my sweet tooth strikes. I don’t think my sweet tooth was ever this bad until I was pregnant, and it’s like it never went away after I had my daughter. I definitely overindulged during the holidays and now I’m paying for it. I have a lot of fitness goals this year, including getting my abs back. While working out is great and an amazing way to get this process started, it’s pretty pointless without an equally healthy diet. While I believe in moderation and indulging once in awhile, I’ve had to quit eating ice cream sundaes every single night. This New Year’s I’m attempting to drastically reduce my sugar intake. While natural sugars, like those in fruits, are okay – added sugars, like those found in soda and candy, are full of unnecessary and unhealthy calories. While cutting sugar is important, you must follow with other steps in order to be successful. Eating lean proteins, complex carbs and healthy fats is essential to successfully cut your sugar intake. Proteins, complex carbs and healthy fats will curb cravings and leave you feeling full. By curbing cravings, you will not crave sugary foods as much. Drinking water helps lower your blood sugar. This is especially important for diabetics. Drinking the recommended eight-8 ounce glasses of water daily will also help curb sugar cravings. Receive a sufficient amount of sleep is also essential in cutting sugar from your diet. Those who receive less than 8 hours of sleep a night are more likely to eat more calories and crave sweet foods. Not only does less sleep wreck your diet but it also can leave you feeling sluggish and not your sharpest. Is anyone else working on cutting sugar from their diet?
